Three minutes after going through the labor and delivery doors, I had Greer.

I went in for a 41st week appointment and had an ultrasound. My amniotic fluid was very low and the placenta looked old and had lots of calcification. They wanted to induce immediately, but I didn’t want to, so they checked me and I was almost fully effaced and 3 cm. We decided to strip my membranes to try to bring on labor (which made me 4cm) and have an IV to try to increase fluids to buy me another day or two. The fluids didn’t do much so I went home that night scheduled to come back the next morning to check the fluid again and get a second opinion about whether induction was necessary. The next morning, I started having back labor at about 6:15am. I spent a lot of time in the shower and in the polar bear position. We decided to head to the hospital at 8:15am as my surges had started coming about a minute apart from about 5 minutes apart at 6:15am. Steve ran in to get a wheel chair and rushed me to labor and delivery. The nurse who had given me the IV the day before was on her way back from getting coffee and saw us coming. She rushed us through the doors at 9am and by the time I took off my skirt, I had a strong urge to push. Three minutes after going through the labor and delivery doors, I had Greer.
